Skatepark refurbishment ramps up with bespoke mural

Newquay’s newly reopened skatepark Wooden Waves will soon be home to a one of a
kind mural courtesy of ethical lifestyle brand Sutsu.
On Saturday 6th August illustrator and Sutsu collaborator Jake Blanchard will be
bringing his unique style of illustration inspired by the environment, music and
mythology to one of the ramps at Wooden Waves. Visitors will be able to watch the
mural take shape throughout the day and the Sutsu team will be filming the entire
process.
Jon Wallhouse, Creative Director at Sutsu was keen to be involved with Wooden Waves
and felt that Jake’s work would be an interesting alternative to skatepark graffiti. He
commented:
“As an ethical lifestyle brand we were keen to support the social enterprise model
XtraVert are trialling at Wooden Waves and wanted to bring a little of Sutsu’s creativity
to the park. We’ve collaborated with Jake on our clothing range and his work is always
inspiring so we’re exciting to see the end result in this unusual location”
